The Rychkid Foundation is a non-profit organization with many facets. In November 2021, Dyanna Wages founded it. Born and raised in Southeast Washington, DC. Following in the footsteps of her grandmother and mother, who had strong ties to the neighborhood and the public education system in Washington, DC. A lineage of very committed community organizers and champions inside the family. Dyanna was exposed to numerous instances of gun violence at a very young age. Her mother was shot while in the sixth grade, going into her place of employment during a robbery nearby. Her mother's ability to survive this inspired her to oversee the first Hunter Pines/Parkland Community Center in Ward 8. For young people from the surrounding communities of Congress Park, 15th Place, Parkland, Hunter Pines, and Stanton Terrace, the facility served as a safe haven. The center put a lot of effort into teaching family values and appropriate reactions to murders and gunshot victims.
Fast-forward to the Covid Pandemic, when Dyanna launched a few small businesses. A croc and catering company (with best-friend and partner Janai ) were a few of them. It was via a news article on "KillMoe", that she learned about the Building Blocks Gun Violence Mini Grant. She then made the decision to become a "Big Sister" and mentor the youth using her artistic abilities and her experiences. After writing her first grant, Dyanna received $5,000 to launch The Girl Power Project right away. She planned a brief retreat for twenty young ladies from the Washington, D.C. region.
From that point on, The Rychkid Foundation was formally established. The 501(c)3 organization has advanced significantly in a short period of time. The Washington Commanders and Terry McLaurin established a friendship thanks to the Rychid Foundation. The foundation has partnered with several other organizations and Community Leaders, who have the same goals. The organization provides food support, trauma therapy, youth mentoring, youth sports, event decor, and catering services.
